There’s something special about celebrating Tonga Day here in Texas. Our parents and grandparents didn’t move here expecting to find a big Tongan crowd. But little by little, families came, settled, and built a community that feels like home.
We keep Tonga Day alive in Texas because it reminds us who we are, where we come from, and why our culture matters even more when we’re far from the islands. It’s our way of passing something real to our kids, staying connected to each other, and letting people know that the Tongan presence in Texas is strong, growing, and here to stay.
